THE BODY CODE/EMOTION CODE, REIKI, EFT AND TBP FOR ANIMALS - AND THEIR CARERS
EFT - EMOTIONAL FREEDOM TECHNIQUES
EFT - often described as 'acupuncture without the needles' - involves tapping on the body's energy meridians to release blocked emotions. (Usually the clients ‘tap’ on themselves.) EFT works on physical, emotional and performance issues, reducing stress and restoring a feeling of 'well-being'.
EFT for Animals :
EFT can be used to help the release of tension or anxiety in a nervous animal and has been used to aid in calming and reassuring rescued or re-homed animals, as well as clearing other emotional issues which may be the underlying cause of physical dis-ease. (When working with animals the tapping may be done surrogately, though many, particularly dogs and horses, really love being gently tapped on and can relax quickly.)

EFT for People :
My intention is to teach you how to use EFT. You will be given notes to help you understand and remember how to use EFT. Four to six sessions should give you enough information and practice to use the technique for yourself with confidence. You will be taught the basics in the first session - so you will be able to start using the technique straight away. Subsequent sessions provide deeper understanding, further techniques and exercises, and some helpful hints for if you get ‘stuck’. I will also teach you how to use EFT for your own animals.

What is EFT and where did it come from?
EFT was developed in the 1980’s by Dr Roger Callaghan, then adapted and refined by Gary Craig during the mid 1990’s.
EFT is a blend of ancient and modern healing. It is a simple yet highly effective technique often leading to rapid and lasting improvements. It was initially used for alleviating emotional issues such as fears and phobias – however, because of the close relationship between mind and body it has also been used successfully to address a wide variety of physical complaints.
It involves tapping with the fingertips on the body’s energy meridians to release blocked emotions. EFT works on physical, emotional and performance issues, reducing the effects of stress and restoring a feeling of ‘well-being’.
Most of the points used are on the face and hands. Commonly, positive changes can be experienced fairly quickly after a few rounds of tapping. In other cases improvement depends on identifying the root cause of a problem, which may involve several sessions and a little detective work. In energy psychology it is always the client who decides which route to take. Clients may choose to keep private issues to themselves and this is fine, as the Practitioner does not need to know every detail for EFT to be beneficial. EFT can also be performed over the phone if urgent help is needed or distance is a problem.
Meridians …?
The ancient Chinese identified twelve major energy channels in the human body. Each of the 12 main meridians run along a particular route in the body and are connected to one of the 12 major organs. The meridians running throughout the body are not visible to the human eye and are referred to as the ‘subtle energy system’. When energy is disrupted and does not flow smoothly in the meridian system, emotional and/or physical distress, pain and ill health occurs.
How does EFT work?
The basic theory is that the cause of all negative emotions is a disruption in the body’s energy system. Treatment is based primarily on tapping meridian points while being tuned in to a problem, so balancing any energy disruptions present.
EFT relieves symptoms by an unusual (but scientific) routine of tapping on specific points on the acupuncture energy meridians. Psychological/emotional trauma has been likened (by Gary Craig) to someone pushing a screwdriver into the back of a television set. Naturally, you will get a “Zzzzt…” short-circuit and the television will malfunction. EFT removes the ‘screwdriver’, and restores the television’s correct operation.
Interestingly, along with emotional healing, there is often noticeable improvement in the physical symptoms that commonly arise from the emotional disturbance.
Do you have to believe in EFT for it to work?
No, absolutely not. EFT works whether you believe in it or not. It doesn’t rely on any set of beliefs, religion or ‘voodoo’ magic. It is a scientifically based routine that works equally well on everyone.
Are there any side effects?
EFT is very gentle and rarely has any side effects. It is often combined with or used instead of other psychological procedures because of its gentle nature. The main side effects are good ones, where working on one problem may cause another issue to improve spontaneously.
How long do the results last?
EFT is almost always long lasting. Physical healing has been reported to be impressive and enduring, but some issues can be more likely to re-emerge than emotional issues. This is usually because more work needs to be done on specific ‘aspects’ of the problem.
